Changer Helps You Switch
Changer was a friendly little crab who scuttled sideways with ease, and that made Changer the perfect guide for the trickiest, most magical part of playing: moving from one chord to the next. Because a song, really, is just chords changing, one after another.
You can learn a chord shape, and another chord shape — but a song only happens when you can switch between them smoothly, right in time with the strum. That switch is where lots of players fumble at first: fingers scrambling, a beat missed. Changer knew the fix, and it’s a kind one: go slow. Slow and smooth beats fast and fumbly every single time.
Changer would show you the two shapes side by side and let you practice just the move between them — over and over, unhurried — until your fingers found the little path from one to the other. No rush, no “you’re too slow.” Speed comes later, all on its own, once the change feels easy. First smooth, then quick.
Soon the little player could slide from chord to chord in time, and suddenly — a whole song poured out, chords changing like scenery going by. Changer waved a happy claw. A song is chords, changing. Take the switches slow, let them get smooth, and one day you’ll look up and realize you’re playing music.
Reading together with a grown-up? A card for the grown-up
For the grown-up: ask one question, then wait. When they answer, add one word to what they said. Tap the button when they have said something — that is one turn each, a circle. Nothing is recorded or kept.
Let them finish it
Say “One chord to the next — Changer helps you switch smooth, …” and stop. Let them finish it.
Now wait. Count slowly to five in your head. Their answer is worth the quiet.
