Bram Sings Down Low

Bram was a big, cozy bear who loved the LOW notes best. Not loud — low. Down, down, deep and warm, like a hum that lives in your tummy. When Bram hummed his lowest note, the whole meadow felt snuggly and safe.

“Sing down low with me,” Bram rumbled gently. A little one tried a squeaky high note first — that was fine, that was Pip’s note! — and then slid down, down, down, until it went cozy and deep. “There it is,” said Bram, and he hummed right along at the very same low place.

Low notes are the sleepy, warm ones — the bottom of the slide, the ground floor, the biggest hug. You do not have to push or strain. You just let your voice settle down low, soft and round, and Bram is already there, humming beside you.

At bedtime, Bram and the little one hummed their lowest, gentlest note together — one long, warm sound, deep as a bear’s cozy den. Low and slow and safe. That is Bram’s favorite kind of song.
