Cardi Finds Your Comfy Start

Cardi was a bright red cardinal who carried a soft, friendly map. Cardi had one job, and she was very good at it: finding the comfy start — the spot where the learning feels just right. Not so hard you want to stop. Not so easy you’re bored.

Cardi never gave a test with a score. Instead, she watched you play a few gentle rounds, the way a friend watches you skip stones. “Ah,” she’d say, “here’s a comfy place to begin.” A comfy start is a beginning where you can win a little and grow a little.

Once, a fox wanted to leap straight to the hardest peak. Cardi smiled kindly. “We could — but it might feel like a wall.” She showed the fox a lower, sunnier path first. “Start comfy, and the hard peak gets closer on its own, step by step.”

Cardi’s map had no losing. If a spot felt too hard, she just drew a comfier one nearby. “You never fail on my map,” she said. “You only find a better place to stand.” That took the worry away, and worry-free is where good learning grows.

At the end, Cardi rolled up her map. She’d found you a comfy start — a place where practice felt like play. “From here,” she said, “every step feels doable, because you began somewhere kind.” Not too hard, not too easy. Just comfy, just right, just for you.
