Echo the Owl Sings It Back

Echo was a small, sleepy owl with big kind eyes, and Echo had the gentlest job in the meadow: whatever line you sang, Echo sang it right back to you. Not to copy — to help. Hearing your line come back made it easier to remember.

The little one was learning a new lullaby and forgot how the middle went. “Hoo,” said Echo softly, and sang the middle line back — slow and clear. The little one listened, then tried it… and this time it came out just right. Hearing it back is how you learn it.

Echo never rushed and never fussed. Sing a line — Echo echoes it. Sing it again with Echo — a little smoother. Sing it a third time — now it’s yours, tucked safe in your memory. Round and round, gentle as a nightlight.

By the end, the little one could sing the whole lullaby with no forgetting at all. Echo gave a happy, sleepy “hoo.” A line you hear sung back a few times becomes a line you’ll always know.
