Blip Helps You Read

Blip was a friendly green frog at the reading desk of the packet office. Blip helped with the words — a short bit each day. His gentle rule had three little steps: blend it, read it, then read it smooth.

“First, blend it,” said Blip, hopping to a new word. “Stretch the sounds and squish them together — sh-i-p, ship.” Blending unlocks the word. That’s step one, and it’s the same route Blendi draws on the map — Blip just uses it every day.

“Now read it,” said Blip. You read the whole line, word by word. It came out a little bumpy the first time — and that was perfectly fine. “A first read is allowed to be bumpy,” Blip said. “Bumps are just the road before it’s smooth.”

“Now the best part — read it smooth,” said Blip. You read the same line again, and this time it flowed. The bumpy words had become easy because you’d met them once already. Reading it a second time is how bumpy turns to smooth.

At the end, Blip gave a happy croak. “Blend it, read it, read it smooth — a little each day.” Just one short passage, practiced gently, growing smoother each time. Bump by bump, line by line, day by day, your reading found its flow.
