Sumi Checks Your Numbers

Sumi was a tidy little squirrel who ran the number desk at the packet office. Sumi believed in a gentle rule: a little each day, and check it as you go. Not a giant pile all at once — just today’s small set, done well and sure.

Each morning, Sumi slid you a short page — only a few problems. “Small is strong,” she said, tucking her tail neat. “A few problems you truly understand beat a hundred you rushed.” A little each day keeps the practice light and the learning deep.

Sumi always checked each answer with you before the next. “Solid?” she’d ask, tapping the sum. If it was, on you went. If not, no worry — you fixed it together, right then, before it wobbled the next one. Checking as you go means nothing shaky gets left behind.

A busy chipmunk wanted to race through ten pages at once. Sumi smiled. “You could — but tomorrow you’d forget half.” She handed back just one small page. “Master this, and tomorrow’s will feel easy. That’s how a little each day becomes a lot over time.”

At day’s end, Sumi stamped your small, solid page with a quiet nod. “A little each day, checked as you go,” she said. No cake eaten whole; just one good slice, sure and steady. And slice by slice, day by day, your numbers grew strong.
