Flip Swings the Shadow

In the Shadow Nook plays Flip, a bouncy shadow-friend who loves to make shadows swing side to side. Flip’s secret is a surprise: you don’t move the toy — you move the light!

Watch! Put a toy on the table and shine the light from the left. The shadow leans to the right. Now move the light to the right — whoosh — the shadow flips to the left! The toy never moved at all. Only the light did!

Can YOU make it flip? Keep a toy still. Move a flashlight from one side to the other. Watch the shadow swing the opposite way. Flip!

Say it with a grown-up: “Move the light, don’t move the toy — the shadow flips the other way, oh joy!”

Move the light, and the shadow flips the other way. That’s Flip’s silly secret! The toy stays still while its shadow dances side to side. Try it and giggle!
