Mission 5 of 16

Language AI

📋 What it is

Natural language processing (NLP) is AI that works with human language — translating, autocompleting, or answering.

🗣️ Coach says

When autocorrect fixes a word or a chatbot replies, that’s NLP. It predicts likely words from patterns in huge amounts of text. It’s astonishingly good at SOUNDING right — but it’s predicting words, not knowing facts.

🧠 Memory hook

Language AI predicts likely words from patterns — it sounds right, but can be confidently wrong.

😂 Giggle

What did the biased dataset say to the classifier?
"You only see what I show you!"

😲 Whoa!

Language AIs can “hallucinate” — state something false with total confidence — because they’re predicting plausible words, not looking up true facts. Always double-check.

✅ Quick check: A chatbot gives a confident answer. Should you trust it without checking?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Type the start of a sentence into a phone and watch it predict the next word. That’s NLP guessing patterns.

🤸 Brain break: Predict-mime: “type” in the air and let your hand “guess” the next word.
