Sensors turn the real world (light, heat, motion) into electrical signals; outputs turn signals into action.

Electronics connects to the world through inputs and outputs. Sensors are INPUTS — they turn light, temperature, sound or motion into an electrical signal. OUTPUTS do the reverse — a motor spins, an LED lights, a speaker sounds. A gadget reads inputs and drives outputs.
