Mission 7 of 16

Economic Policy

📋 What it is

Governments make choices about taxes and spending that shape the economy and shared services.

🗣️ Coach says

Governments raise money (mostly through TAXES) and decide how to SPEND it — on schools, roads, health, safety. These choices, called economic policy, shape the whole economy and what services everyone gets. People disagree on the best choices; the civics part is understanding HOW the choices work.

🧠 Memory hook

Economic policy = how government TAXES + SPENDS. It shapes the economy + shared services.

😂 Giggle

Why are amendments like phone updates?
Because they patch the old system, and some people still complain about the changes!

😲 Whoa!

The way a government splits its budget — how much to schools vs roads vs health — reflects what that society decides to value.

✅ Quick check: Where does most of the money a government spends come from?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

If you set your country's budget, name your top spending priority — and why.

🤸 Brain break: Give-and-get: one hand "pays in" (tax), the other "receives" (a service), then breathe.
