Persuasive Techniques
📋 What it is
Common techniques include repetition, testimonials, bandwagon, and scarcity (“only 3 left!”).
🗣️ Coach says
Persuaders have a toolbox: repeat a slogan till it sticks, show a happy “real customer”, claim everyone’s buying (bandwagon), or fake urgency (“ends tonight!”). None of these is evidence — they’re nudges. Name the nudge and it loses power.
🧠 Memory hook
Repetition, testimonials, bandwagon, scarcity — nudges, not evidence. Name them.
😂 Giggle
Why did the debate judge become a baker?
They were great at finding holes in things!
😲 Whoa!
The “only 3 left!” scarcity trick works because our brains fear missing out — but online, that “3 left” counter is often fake and resets when you reload the page.
⚖️ The claim on trial:
“This proves the product is good: “Hurry — only 3 left, sale ends in 10 minutes!””
You're the judge. Deliver a verdict, pick the evidence that really matters, then reveal.
✗ Weak / flawed — Weak / flawed — scarcity/urgency is a nudge to act fast, not evidence of quality (and the “3 left” counter is often fake).
Repetition, testimonials, bandwagon, and scarcity are nudges — name the nudge; it isn’t evidence.
