Mission 8 of 16

Data Analysis

📋 What it is

Analysis means finding patterns, trends, and surprises in data — then explaining what they mean.

🗣️ Coach says

Analysis is where numbers become insight. You look for trends (going up? down?), clusters, and outliers, then ask WHY. The goal isn’t just to compute — it’s to tell the true story the data is holding.

🧠 Memory hook

Analyze = spot the PATTERN (trend / cluster / outlier), then explain WHAT IT MEANS. Numbers → story.

😂 Giggle

Why did the histogram go to the doctor?
It had too many bars and not enough breaks!

😲 Whoa!

When cholera hit London in 1854, John Snow ANALYZED a map of cases, traced them to one water pump, and helped found modern data science.

✅ Quick check: A single data point sits far away from all the others. What is it called?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Collect 10 numbers (steps per day, scores, etc.). Find the trend and any outlier, then explain both.

🤸 Brain break: Detective breath: in on "what’s the pattern?", out on "what does it mean?" — two-step analysis.
