Mission 9 of 16

Biome Diversity

📋 What it is

Earth has many biomes — rainforest, desert, tundra, grassland — each with life suited to its climate.

🗣️ Coach says

Earth’s land divides into biomes, each shaped by temperature and rainfall. Rainforests burst with life; deserts are sparse and tough; tundra is cold and low; grasslands are wide and grassy. The variety of biomes gives Earth its huge diversity of life.

🧠 Memory hook

Rainforest, desert, tundra, grassland — each a biome set by its climate.

😂 Giggle

Why did the invasive species feel unwelcome?
Because it moved in without an invitation and took over the whole neighborhood!

😲 Whoa!

Tropical rainforests cover only about 6% of Earth’s land but are home to more than HALF of all plant and animal species.

✅ Quick check: What two climate factors mainly decide a biome?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Pick two biomes and name one animal from each. Notice how each fits its climate.

🤸 Brain break: Biome-mime: shiver (tundra), sweat (desert), then arms wide and lush (rainforest).
