Number Puzzles & Sequences
📋 What it is
Number puzzles hide a rule in a sequence; finding the rule reveals the missing or next number (a lock code).
🗣️ Coach says
A number lock might show 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, ? — that’s the Fibonacci sequence (add the last two). Number puzzles reward finding the RELATIONSHIP between numbers, not just staring at them. The rule is the combination.
🧠 Memory hook
Ask how each number relates to the last — the relationship is the code.
😂 Giggle
What did one puzzle say to the other?
"I think we're a perfect match!"
😲 Whoa!
The Fibonacci sequence (1,1,2,3,5,8…) shows up in sunflower seeds, pinecones, and flower petals — nature counts in the same pattern escape rooms hide in locks.
✅ Quick check: What comes next in 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, ___?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
13 — each number is the sum of the two before it (5+8=13); that’s the Fibonacci rule.
Finding the add-the-last-two relationship reveals the next term.
🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
Make a sequence lock using “add the two before” (Fibonacci) and see if a friend spots the rule.
