A wing’s shape speeds air over the top to create lower pressure — lifting the wing upward.

A wing’s special curved shape (an airfoil) makes air travel faster over the top than the bottom. Faster-moving air has LOWER pressure, so higher pressure below pushes the wing UP — that’s lift. Wing shape, angle and size are all tuned by engineers to make just the right amount of lift.
