Propellers and jet engines push air backward to thrust a plane forward — action and reaction.

Thrust comes from pushing air (or gas) BACKWARD, which pushes the plane FORWARD — Newton’s action-reaction. A PROPELLER screws through the air like a fan; a JET ENGINE sucks in air, burns fuel, and blasts hot gas out the back. Both are just different ways to shove air backward for forward thrust.
