Time Awareness
📋 What it is
Time awareness is sensing how long things really take — many tasks take longer (or shorter) than we guess.
🗣️ Coach says
Brains are bad clocks. We under-estimate boring tasks and over-estimate scary ones. Time awareness means CHECKING: guess how long homework will take, then time it, and compare. Over a few tries your guesses get sharper — and a visible timer turns invisible time into something you can actually feel.
🧠 Memory hook
Guess the time, then MEASURE it. A visible timer makes invisible time real.
😂 Giggle
I told my brain to focus and it said, "Sorry, I'm currently buffering."
😲 Whoa!
People routinely under-estimate how long tasks take — psychologists call it the "planning fallacy", and even experts fall for it.
✅ Quick check: You always run out of time on projects. What builds time awareness?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
Estimate how long a task will take, then time it and compare — your guesses improve.
Comparing your estimate to the real time trains an accurate sense of duration.
🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
Guess how many minutes tonight’s reading will take, set a timer, and check how close you were.
