A seed is a plant survival kit: a baby plant plus stored food, wrapped in a protective coat. To avoid crowding the parent, seeds travel — floating on wind (dandelion), hitching on fur (burrs), or riding through animals that eat the fruit. Then, given water and warmth, they sprout.
