The Science of Magic Tricks

📋 What it is

Magic tricks use real science — physics, misdirection and how the brain fills gaps — not actual "magic".

🗣️ Coach says

A magic trick is applied perception science. Magicians use PHYSICS (hidden mechanisms, gravity), PSYCHOLOGY (directing your attention away from the secret), and your brain’s habit of FILLING GAPS (you "see" a coin vanish because you assume it’s still where you last saw it). Knowing the science makes tricks more amazing, not less.

🧠 Memory hook

Magic = real science: physics (hidden mechanics) + psychology (misdirection) + your brain filling gaps.

😂 Giggle

Why did the magician's rabbit refuse to come out of the hat?
It said, "I'm not falling for that trick again!"

😲 Whoa!

Magicians study perception science so well that many psychology researchers now team up with magicians to learn how attention and awareness really work.

✅ Quick check: How does a magician make you "see" a coin vanish that’s still in their hand?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Watch a simple vanish trick and try to catch WHERE your attention was pulled away — that’s the secret.

🤸 Brain break: Misdirect: point dramatically one way while the "trick" happens the other — misdirection.
