Smart Shopping

📋 What it is

A smart shopper compares price, quality and need — checking unit price and ignoring tricks that push you to overspend.

🗣️ Coach says

Shops are designed to make you spend. A smart shopper slows down: is this a NEED or a want? What’s the price per unit, not per box? Is the “deal” actually cheaper? Ask those three and you’ll outsmart most sales tricks.

🧠 Memory hook

Need or want? Check the UNIT price. Is the “deal” real?

😂 Giggle

I read the fine print on my phone plan.
Now I need glasses — and a lawyer.

😲 Whoa!

The “unit price” (cost per gram or per item) is often on the shelf label — the bigger box isn’t always the cheaper one.

✅ Quick check: Two boxes of the same cereal: which number tells you the better deal — the total price or the unit price?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Compare two similar products (real or pictured) by unit price and say which is the better buy.

🤸 Brain break: Slow cart: “push a cart” slowly, pausing to ask “need or want?” before each imaginary item.
