Mission 10 of 16

Applied Problem Solving

📋 What it is

Use measurement in multi-step real problems — mixing units, converting, and calculating.

🗣️ Coach says

Applied problems combine skills: convert units, then calculate, then answer. "How many 250 mL cups from a 2 L bottle?" needs a conversion (2 L = 2000 mL) then a division. Read carefully, convert, compute.

🧠 Memory hook

Convert to the SAME unit first, THEN calculate. Mixed units are the classic trap.

😂 Giggle

Area and perimeter walked into a room.
Area said, "I've got you covered." Perimeter said, "I've got you surrounded."

😲 Whoa!

Recipe scaling is applied measurement: doubling a cake means converting and multiplying every ingredient at once.

✅ Quick check: How many 250 mL cups fill from a 2 L bottle?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Work out how many 200 mL glasses you can pour from a 1 L carton (convert, then divide).

⭐ Do the round to earn your star →
🤸 Brain break: Convert-then-go: mime "changing gears" (convert), then "drive" (calculate).
