Round 4 of 16

Forming A Mill To Capture

📋 What it is

Each time you complete a mill you immediately remove one of the opponent's pieces from the board.

🗣️ Coach says

The payoff: the instant you make a mill (three in a row on a line), you get to REMOVE one enemy piece. That's the engine of the whole game — every mill costs your opponent a piece. So planning your placement to trigger mills is how you win material.

🧠 Memory hook

Complete a mill → take one enemy piece off the board. Every mill = a capture.

😂 Giggle

Why did the piece refuse to leave its mill?
Because you usually can't remove a piece that's part of one!

😲 Whoa!

Because forming a mill captures, the best players set up positions where their NEXT move makes a mill no matter what the opponent does — a guaranteed capture.

✅ Quick check: What happens the moment you complete a mill?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Set up two of your pieces on a line and place the third to form a mill — then remove an enemy piece.

🤸 Brain break: Snap-and-take: clap (the mill) then grab (the capture) in one motion.
