Round 13 of 16

No Legal Move

📋 What it is

A player who cannot make any legal move loses immediately — so cramping the enemy is a real winning goal.

🗣️ Coach says

The clearest endgame win: if it's the opponent's turn and they have NO legal move (every piece blocked), the game ends — they lose. So even when captures are hard, you can steer toward boxing the enemy in completely. Always check whether the enemy is running out of moves.

🧠 Memory hook

No legal move on your turn = instant loss. Cramp them until they're stuck.

😂 Giggle

Why did the piece move to the corner?
It heard corners can only ever be part of two mills, so it wanted a quieter life!

😲 Whoa!

Because "no move = loss," some endgames are won purely by patient blocking — not a single extra capture, just slowly sealing every exit.

✅ Quick check: What happens if it's your opponent's turn and they have no legal move?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Set up a position where one enemy piece is fully blocked and check: is it their only piece? Then they lose.
