Mission 9 of 16

Empathy & Perspective

📋 What it is

Perspective-taking is seeing the situation from the OTHER person’s side — which turns "you’re wrong" into "oh, I get it".

🗣️ Coach says

Empathy is imagining how things looked and felt from where THEY stood. It doesn’t mean you agree with everything — it means you understand. Perspective-taking is the engine of repair: once you can honestly say "if I were you, I’d feel that too," the conflict usually softens on its own.

🧠 Memory hook

See it from THEIR side. "If I were you, I’d feel that too" turns a fight into understanding.

😂 Giggle

Why did "I-statements" keep the peace?
Because "I felt hurt" opens a door that "you always" slams shut!

😲 Whoa!

Just imagining the other person’s viewpoint for a moment measurably reduces conflict — perspective-taking is that powerful.
