Going Up
📋 What it is
A percentage change tells you how BIG a jump is relative to where you started: (new − old) ÷ old × 100. "Up 50" means nothing without the starting number.
🗣️ Coach says
Your views went up by 100. Huge — or tiny? From 100 to 200 is +100%. From 10,000 to 10,100 is +1%. The same "+100" can be a breakout or a rounding error. Always ask: percent of WHAT?
🧠 Memory hook
Growth = change ÷ starting point. "+100" is meaningless without the base.
😂 Giggle
What did the A test say to the B test?
"May the best version win!"
😲 Whoa!
Headlines love "sales up 200%!" because a jump from 1 to 3 sounds enormous as a percent — the base was just tiny.
✅ Quick check: Your subscribers grew from 400 to 500. What is the percent growth?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
25% — (500 − 400) ÷ 400 = 100 ÷ 400 = 25%.
Percent growth compares the change to the starting point, so jumps of different sizes are comparable.
