Mission 7 of 16

A vs B

📋 What it is

An A/B test compares two versions by changing exactly ONE thing (say, the thumbnail) and keeping everything else equal, so any difference is caused by that one change.

🗣️ Coach says

Want to know if a new thumbnail is better? Show version A and version B, change ONLY the thumbnail, and compare. If you also changed the title AND the time, you will never know which one worked. One variable at a time.

🧠 Memory hook

A/B test = change ONE thing, keep the rest equal. Then the result has one cause.

😂 Giggle

Why was the outlier so lonely?
It never fit in with the rest of the data!

😲 Whoa!

Big platforms run thousands of A/B tests at once — even a button's shade of blue has been A/B-tested for millions in extra clicks.

✅ Quick check: You test two thumbnails but ALSO change the title on version B. Why is the test broken?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Design an A/B test for a post title — write version A, version B, and what you keep identical.

🤸 Brain break: One-change mime: hold up two fists (A and B) and swap ONE finger — only one thing differs.
