Sponsor Math

📋 What it is

Return on investment (ROI) compares what you get back to what you put in: (gain − cost) ÷ cost. A big payment can still be a bad deal if it costs you more.

🗣️ Coach says

A sponsor offers a payment to make a video. Worth it? Not just "is the number big" — subtract your time, editing, and the trust you risk if the product is bad. ROI is the gain AFTER costs, not the sticker price.

🧠 Memory hook

ROI = (gain − cost) ÷ cost. A big number can still be a loss once you count the costs.

😂 Giggle

Why did the median stay calm in a crowd?
It's not thrown off by a few extreme values!

😲 Whoa!

Creators have tanked whole channels by taking a lucrative sponsor their audience hated — the short-term cash cost them long-term trust (which is worth far more).

✅ Quick check: A sponsor pays 100, but the video costs you 40 in time and tools. What is your ROI?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Evaluate a pretend sponsor deal: write the payment, your costs, and the ROI — take it or not?

🤸 Brain break: Weigh-it: hold "gain" in one hand and "cost" in the other, and tip to whichever is heavier.
