Logical Deduction
📋 What it is
Deduction combines the clues you know for certain to reach a conclusion that MUST be true.
🗣️ Coach says
Deduction is the detective’s core move: line up sure facts and take the one conclusion that must follow. “The thief is tall; three suspects are short; one is tall.” The tall one, by elimination. Certain steps only.
🧠 Memory hook
Line up the sure clues, eliminate, and take the conclusion that MUST follow.

Why did the footprint get promoted?
It always left a lasting impression!
😲 Whoa!
Sherlock Holmes calls it deduction, but he’s often doing “elimination” — ruling out the impossible until only the truth remains, exactly as forensic scientists do.
✅ Quick check: The culprit wore size-10 shoes. Prints are size 10; only one suspect wears size 10. Conclusion?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
That suspect is the likely culprit — the print size eliminates the others and points to the one match.
Combining certain clues by elimination forces the conclusion.
🪄 Trick question: If two suspects both fit every clue, can you name the culprit yet?
Careful — think it through, then reveal.
No — you need another clue; deduction names a culprit only when exactly one fits all the evidence.
Two survivors means the deduction is incomplete.
