Digital audio turns sound waves into numbers a computer can store, edit and play back.

To put sound on a computer, a microphone catches the VIBRATION and the computer measures it thousands of times a second, storing those measurements as NUMBERS. More measurements = higher quality. Once it's numbers, you can edit, layer and replay it perfectly — that's digital audio.
