Round 2 of 16

Chess Fundamentals

📋 What it is

Chess teaches core strategy ideas: control the centre, develop your pieces, and keep your king safe.

🗣️ Coach says

Chess is the classic strategy teacher. Three ideas carry across almost every strategy game: control the CENTRE (the most valuable ground), DEVELOP your pieces (get them active early), and keep your KING (your key asset) SAFE. Learn these and you'll see them everywhere.

🧠 Memory hook

Control the centre, develop your pieces, protect your king. The three pillars.

😂 Giggle

What did the rook say to the king?
"I've got you covered — horizontally AND vertically!"

😲 Whoa!

There are more possible chess games than there are atoms in the observable universe — which is why even the strongest computers can't simply "solve" it.

✅ Quick check: Name one of the three core chess principles.

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Set up a chess board and make three opening moves that each follow one principle (centre / develop / safety).
