Rocks constantly change type — igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic — through heat, pressure and weathering.

Rocks aren’t forever fixed — they cycle. Cooled magma makes IGNEOUS rock; weathering breaks rocks into bits that compress into SEDIMENTARY rock; heat and pressure transform any rock into METAMORPHIC rock; and melting starts it all over. The rock cycle recycles Earth’s crust endlessly.
