Chunking & Planning
📋 What it is
Breaking one big, scary task into small stepping-stones you can actually start.
🗣️ Coach says
A giant task freezes your brain. Chunking cuts it into bites: "read 2 pages" not "study the whole chapter". You can always start a bite.
🧠 Memory hook
Eat the elephant one bite at a time. Nobody swallows an elephant — but anybody can take one bite.
😂 Giggle
Why was the big project so calm?
Because it had been broken into small, bite-sized pieces!
😲 Whoa!
Your working memory can only juggle about 4 things at once. Chunking is how you sneak past that limit.
✅ Quick check: "Do my science project" feels impossible to start. What’s a good FIRST chunk?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
Something tiny + specific you could do in 5 minutes, like "write the title and 3 questions I want to answer."
A start-able first bite beats a perfect plan you never begin.
🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
Take any big task and write its first THREE bites — each small enough to finish in 5 minutes. Circle bite one and do only that.
