Mistakes and “yet”
📋 What it is
Mistakes are part of learning — and “not yet” is a real place to be.
🗣️ Coach says
Saying "I can’t do this YET" keeps the door open. Believing you can grow helps a little on its own — it helps most with good strategies and a teacher who backs you.
🧠 Memory hook
Add "yet". "I don’t get fractions" → "I don’t get fractions YET." One little word changes everything.
😂 Giggle
Why was the mistake actually a good sign?
Because it's the sound of your brain building a new pathway!
😲 Whoa!
Noticing and fixing a mistake is one of the moments your brain pays the most attention — which is why a fixed mistake is easier to remember.
✅ Quick check: You get a low score on a practice quiz. What’s the growth-mindset move?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
Treat it as information: "these are the exact ones to practise" — then space them out and re-try. Not "I’m bad at this."
A first score measures where you START, never where you’ll finish.
🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
Catch one "I can’t ___" thought today and say it again out loud with "yet" on the end. Notice how different it feels.
