Sound Basics & Vibration

📋 What it is

Sound is made by vibrations that travel through a material as a wave to your ears.

🗣️ Coach says

Every sound starts with something vibrating — a string, a speaker, your vocal cords. Those vibrations push on the air (or water, or a solid), passing the wiggle along as a wave until it reaches your ear. No vibration, no sound.

🧠 Memory hook

Vibration → travels as a wave through stuff → your ear hears it. No vibration, no sound.

😂 Giggle

Why did the wave say hello?
Because it wanted to make a good frequency!

😲 Whoa!

In space no one can hear an explosion — there’s no air to carry the vibration, so sound has nothing to travel through.

✅ Quick check: What has to happen for any sound to be made?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Rest your fingers on your throat and hum — feel the vibration that becomes the sound.

⭐ Do the round to earn your star →
🤸 Brain break: Buzz-it: press your lips together and hum "mmmm" — feel your own vibration.
