Mission 3 of 16

Mental Health & Emotions

📋 What it is

Mental health is part of overall health — all feelings are normal, and caring for your mind is a skill like any other.

🗣️ Coach says

Just as bodies get tired or sore, minds have ups and downs — that’s normal and human. All emotions (even the uncomfortable ones) carry useful information. Mental health means noticing your feelings, having ways to cope, and knowing it’s strong — not weak — to talk to someone you trust when things feel heavy.

🧠 Memory hook

All feelings are normal + carry info. Caring for your mind is a skill; asking for help is strength.

😂 Giggle

First aid class was intense — everyone was under a lot of pressure.
Mostly the tourniquets.

😲 Whoa!

Naming an emotion ("I feel frustrated") actually calms the brain’s alarm — scientists call it "name it to tame it".

✅ Quick check: Is it a sign of weakness to talk to a trusted adult when you feel overwhelmed?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Practice "name it to tame it": next time you feel a big feeling, silently name it. Notice any small shift.
