A habitat is where an animal lives; an ecosystem is all the living things plus their environment.

A habitat is an animal’s home — where it finds food, water, and shelter. An ecosystem is bigger: ALL the living things in an area plus the non-living parts (water, soil, air) working together. A pond, a forest, a coral reef — each is an ecosystem full of connected habitats.
