Biodiversity & Conservation

📋 What it is

Biodiversity is the variety of life; conservation protects it because diverse ecosystems are stronger.

🗣️ Coach says

Biodiversity means the huge variety of living things — many species, many roles. It matters because diverse ecosystems are more resilient: if one species struggles, others fill the gap. Conservation is the work of protecting that variety, from tiny insects to giant whales.

🧠 Memory hook

Biodiversity = variety of life. More variety = a stronger, more resilient ecosystem.

😂 Giggle

Why are birds such great photographers?
They always have an eagle eye for detail!

😲 Whoa!

Scientists estimate MOST species on Earth haven’t even been discovered yet — we’re still finding thousands of new ones every year.

✅ Quick check: Why does high biodiversity make an ecosystem stronger?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Count how many different animals you can spot (or recall) outside. Each one adds to biodiversity.

🤸 Brain break: Variety-count: hold up fingers for each different creature you can name — “that’s biodiversity.”
