Logic-grid puzzles use clues to eliminate impossibilities until only the truth remains.

In a logic puzzle you rarely find the answer directly — you find it by crossing OUT what can’t be. “Sam isn’t the tallest” removes one option. Keep eliminating and the last one standing must be true.

This is exactly how detectives (and Sherlock Holmes) reason: “when you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
✅ Quick check: Three cups; the ball isn’t under the left or the middle. Where is it?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
Under the right cup — the other two are eliminated, so the only survivor must be true.
Elimination leaves exactly one possibility, which must be correct.
🪄 Trick question: If a clue leaves TWO options uncrossed, are you done?
Careful — think it through, then reveal.
No — you need more clues; a logic puzzle is solved only when exactly one possibility remains.
Two survivors means the deduction is incomplete.
