CapeTots

When something is hard, put on your cape and become Brave You. CapeTots is a warm daily brave-moment talk for your 3-5-year-old: a new slide, a wobbly tower, a dark room - Thimble the mouse-knight asks "what would Brave You do?", then a tiny brave move (and "not yet" or "ask for help" are brave too). A printable cape, read-aloud help - and nothing is ever saved. The Batman effect, for grown-ups and little ones together.

Distributed-narrative cast

Meet the cast

CapeTots teaches SELF-DISTANCING for the youngest: when a feeling is big and a thing is hard, a child copes better by borrowing a braver self (the "Batman effect", White & Carlson 2017). Thimble the mouse-knight hands the child a cape - "what would Brave You do?" - over ONE small hard moment for a grown-up and a 3-5 child to share. A cape is an invitation, never a push ("not yet" and "ask for help" are brave too), and nothing is ever saved.

T

Thimble

Put on the cape (hero) - a mouse-knight in a thimble helmet who hands the child a cape and asks "what would Brave You do?"; the borrow-a-braver-self act IS Thimble.

P

Pluck

Try again - embodies gentle perseverance: when something is tricky, Brave You tries once more a different way (never a demand to keep going).

B

Bramble

Brave breath - embodies the steady body: one slow breath, stand tall; a calm body makes room for a little brave.

D

Dandelion

...and me too - a soft companion who shows the grown-up puts on a cape as well (the grown-up-first move: the adult borrows their brave self first).
