EbbForge
A feeling is a tide, not a wall. Watch how emotions move over time - their duration, their inertia (why the same event lingers for one person and lifts for another), and 'it will pass' as a literal curve that drifts back and resets after sleep. The one thing the 3am mind gets wrong is that a peak is permanent; here you can see the peak bend. A science of feelings, not therapy - nothing you feel is saved. Ages 15-18.
#3f7f94 Distributed-narrative cast
Meet the cast
EbbForge is text-forward (R-OLDER-TEEN-DN-ADAPTED, ages 15-18) - no illustrated cast; the 'crew' are the ways a feeling moves over time, and each part IS one property of how affect behaves. Duration is the tide-reader who holds the whole curve and reminds you that a feeling is not a state you are stuck in - it has a shape, and a peak is precisely the part that does not last. Inertia is how much a feeling carries into the next moment: high inertia lingers for days, low inertia is shaken off by lunch - the same event, a different curve, and neither is weakness. Transient is the drift back to the quiet middle - left alone, a feeling ebbs, and sleep gives it a stronger reset; Transient's act IS 'it will pass' drawn as a line. Tideline is the stacking mark - a second hit before you recover from the first goes lower, which is why 'just get through today' is often literally true. Reprieve is the sleep reset - the stronger pull back toward the middle that a night gives, and the honest note that a feeling which keeps returning at full height is a pattern to take to someone, not a tide to wait out alone. Illustrated portraits/chapters/audio are N/A for the older-teen band, not a follow-on.
Duration
(Mentor) - the tide-reader who holds the whole curve. Duration reminds you a feeling is not a state you are stuck in but a shape over time - and a peak is precisely the part that does not last, which is what the mind gets wrong at its lowest.
Inertia
How much a feeling carries into the next moment - high inertia lingers for days, low inertia is shaken off by lunch. Inertia's act IS showing the same event can be a long curve or a short one, and that neither is weakness or strength.
Transient
The drift back to the quiet middle - left alone a feeling ebbs. Transient's act IS 'it will pass' drawn as a literal line, and the reminder that nothing stays at the peak, good or bad.
Tideline
The stacking mark - a second hit before you have recovered from the first goes lower, because the curve had not returned to baseline. Tideline's act IS why 'I just need to get through today' is often literally true.
Reprieve
The sleep reset - the stronger pull back toward the middle that a night gives, beyond the hours alone. Reprieve's act IS 'sleep on it' as real physics of feeling - and the honest note that a feeling returning at full height night after night is a pattern to take to someone, not a tide to wait out alone.
