TideForge

A cap-and-trade climate trade game for ages 15-18: rebuild the coast of Gullwick, but every kiln you fire raises the shared Tide - cross the flood line and the outer coast washes out for everyone. Trade the capped kiln permits, weigh fast rebuilding against the rising water, and decide for yourself. A game about a dilemma, not a lesson with an answer. On-device, no accounts.

Distributed-narrative cast

Meet the cast

TideForge's adapted-DN-S cast (ages 15-18, realistic stances at the table - no mascots, no illustrated chapters, per R-OLDER-TEEN-DN-ADAPTED) each embody one position in the commons dilemma; the Harbourmaster frames the question and never answers it. Text-forward; illustrated portraits/chapters/audio are OUT of scope for the 15-18 band.

T

The Stoker

Burns hot - fires a kiln whenever a permit and coins allow; the case for rebuilding as fast as the water lets you

T

The Steward

Watches the line - builds tide-mills when a kiln would tip the coast; the case for holding the water back even when it costs the lead

T

The Broker

Works the cap - sells a spare permit to whoever will pay and builds clean; the case that the deal itself is the leverage

M

Marran

Reads the room - mixes kiln and mill by the moment; the reminder that no single rule wins every season

T

The Harbourmaster

(The frame) - poses the question the coast keeps asking (how fast is worth how much risk, shared by whom?) and never hands over an answer
