Slow-mo

a slow beat — big gaps between claps, calm and easy, like a sleepy turtle's steps

Slow-mo Loves It Slow

Slow-mo was a gentle turtle with a cozy round shell, and Slow-mo loved one thing best: a slow beat. Big, easy gaps between the claps — clap… … clap… … clap — with plenty of time to sway in between.

The little one tried a fast clap first, and Slow-mo just blinked, happy but unhurried. Then the little one slowed way down — clap… wait… clap… wait — and Slow-mo swayed along, one slow step at a time, the calmest smile on his face. Slow beats feel like a deep, easy breath.

There was no rush with Slow-mo, and no wrong. A slow beat isn’t a “worse” beat — it’s a cozy one. Big gaps, gentle sways, all the time in the world. Some songs want to zoom, and some songs want to stroll.

The little one and Slow-mo rocked together in slow-motion time — sway… sway… sway — like a boat on calm water. Slow and steady is its own happy beat. Take your time. Slow-mo always does.

The drumtots ensemble
