Clover the Fawn Makes a Fair Course

Clover is a soft, gentle little fawn with kind eyes and the sweetest way of thinking about her friends. And Clover knows a special secret about building move courses: you build them for the person who has to DO them.

“When I make a course for Bounce,” Clover says softly, “I always ask one thing: can a little grasshopper really do this?”

Because it is easy to make a course that is too hard! Too many moves, so nobody can remember them. Or ALL big moves - hop, spin, hop, spin, hop - until poor Bounce is puffed right out and has to stop.

“So I make it FAIR,” says Clover, with a kind smile. “Not too long - just a few moves. And not all big ones in a row. I pop a RESTFUL move in the middle - a freeze, or a crawl - so Bounce can catch his breath. Then he can do the WHOLE course, all the way, and finish with a smile.”

A little friend tries it Clover’s way. She builds a short course for Bounce: “Hop… then FREEZE for a rest… then spin.” Just right! And Bounce does every single move, and finishes happy, not puffed out at all.

“See?” Clover beams gently. “You thought about BOUNCE. You made it for HIM. That’s what a good course-builder does - you make it for your friend, so THEY can do it and have fun.”

That is Clover’s kind, thoughtful idea.

Build a course your friend can really do - not too long, not all big moves, with a rest in the middle.

A grown-up can play too! Build a course for each OTHER. When you make one for your grown-up, ask: “Can they really do it? Is it too long? Did I give them a rest?” Then watch them do the whole thing and smile. Making it fair for your friend is the kindest kind of building.

When Bounce finishes Clover’s fair little course, bright and happy and not a bit tired, Clover feels the warm, gentle gladness of a fawn who made something JUST right for a friend. “You built it for ME,” Bounce says, delighted. “That’s the nicest course of all.”
