Probability & Card Math
📋 What it is
Probability of an event = favorable cards ÷ total cards. Drawing one specific card from 52 is 1/52.
🗣️ Coach says
Card odds are just fractions. "What’s the chance of a heart?" There are 13 hearts out of 52 cards, so 13/52 = 1/4. Every card probability is (how many I want) ÷ (how many total). Get that and you can read any deck.
🧠 Memory hook
Probability = WANT ÷ TOTAL. 13 hearts ÷ 52 cards = 1/4. Always a fraction.
😂 Giggle
What did one card say to the other during the shuffle?
"I'm falling for you!"
😲 Whoa!
The chance of shuffling a deck into an order that has NEVER existed before is basically 100% — there are more deck orders than atoms in our galaxy.
✅ Quick check: What is the probability of drawing a red card from a full deck?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
1/2 — there are 26 red cards out of 52.
26 ÷ 52 = 1/2; half the deck is red (hearts + diamonds).
🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
Draw one card from a shuffled deck 20 times (replacing each time). Tally reds vs blacks — it should hover near half-half.
