About ChainPals
ChainPals helps children ages 6–8 read by changing one sound at a time. Turn cat into cot into cog into dog — a word chain — and Snuffle the mole tunnels along, one square per word.
It is part of our open Sound Road reading sequence: ChainPals only ever uses words the Sound Road has already taught, so a child never meets a spelling they cannot sound out.
Hearing the single sound that changes between two words — and building the new word — is one of the strongest early reading skills. When a child is stuck, ChainPals never gives the answer away; it just needs a friendly nudge, and Snuffle will show the way rather than let anyone get stuck.
Everything is calm: no score, no streak, no timer, nothing to buy. Everything runs on this device — there are no accounts, and nothing a child does leaves the device.
Honest note for grown-ups: ChainPals is practice, not a promise of a reading level. It grows reading best alongside lots of real books read together.
