Dance Positions
Every dance is built from a handful of shapes. Picture each one — then you’ll spot it in a phrase.
Plié
Bend the knees with the heels down and the back tall — the spring that starts almost every jump.
Arabesque
Balance on one leg with the other stretched behind you and one arm reaching forward — a long, graceful line.
Leap
Push off and fly — both feet leave the floor for a moment, arms open wide.
Pirouette
Turn on one foot with your arms drawn in — pulling in makes the spin faster (that’s momentum!).
Balance
Hold steady and still — rise onto your toes, arms out, and find your centre.
