Deduction goes from a general rule to a sure conclusion; induction spots a pattern and guesses the rule.

Two thinking directions. Deduction: "all cats have whiskers → this cat has whiskers" (certain). Induction: "every cat I’ve seen has whiskers → maybe all do" (a good guess). You need both.

Science runs on both: induction builds a hypothesis from what you observe, deduction predicts what should happen if it’s true.

Induction — you spotted a pattern and generalised it; it’s a likely guess, not a certainty.
Going from specific observations to a general rule is induction; going from a rule to a case is deduction.
