Volume measures the space inside a solid — for a box, length × width × height in cubic units.

Volume is area's big sibling. Area covers a flat floor; volume fills a whole room with little cubes. For a box it's just length × width × height. The unit gains a third power: cm³, not cm².

Area is cm² (a flat tile). Volume is cm³ (a stacked cube). One more dimension → one more little "³".

A cube and a sphere can hold the same volume, but the sphere always has the smallest surface for that volume — which is why bubbles are round.
