Symmetry & Transformations

📋 What it is

A transformation moves a shape: slide (translation), turn (rotation), flip (reflection) — size stays the same.

🗣️ Coach says

Transformations are how shapes move without changing size. Slide it, turn it, or flip it — it's still the same shape (congruent). Symmetry is when a flip or turn lands the shape right back on itself.

Slide = translation. Turn = rotation. Flip = reflection. All three keep size the same (congruent).

😲 Whoa!

A snowflake has 6-fold symmetry — turn it 60° and it looks identical. That pattern comes straight from how water molecules bond.
