Common geometry traps: confusing area with perimeter, assuming a drawing is to scale, mixing up radius and diameter.

The best way to get good is to know the traps. Area isn't perimeter. A diagram might be drawn wrong on purpose. The diameter is twice the radius, not the same. Spotting a trap before it catches you is a skill you can practise.
